Pokemon Colosseum is not a pokemon stadium game. The word colosseum being a similar word to 'Stadium' is purely coincidental. Pokemon Colosseum is a well made game that was crafted with love. It has an interesting story, a mysterious main character and it looks at the Pokemon world from an angle no other pokemon game has. Pokemon stadium is a fun arcade game to be played with friends. They are polar opposites in terms of playstyle. No one else should fall into this trap.
It takes a while to download, so make sure you're looking for the right game before you do so. The game offers a colosseum mode like the stadium games and free battless, but there are no rental pokemon. Instead, you are given a story mode to play along. The story may not be as good as the portable, but it's still comes with it's addictive gamepla.
I would recommend if you have a portable generation 3 game with a gameboy cable because the sotyr mode alone is not enough to get this game. When this game was released, I was very disapointed it wasn't like the stadium games. It's missing rental pokemon, mini games for playing with your friends, the gameboy tower and the prof. All things that made the stadium games special for me. Still this isn't a bad game, it have its pros, like the ability to catch pokemon from oposing trainers, as long they are dark pokemon, and a real 1-player adventure, although it is very short and all battles are 2vs2.
